Brown rice with Cattail
Whenever a recipe calls for brown rice I like to use Sally Fallon's Brown rice recipe with cardamom pods.
So I made this rice in advance and then continue with this recipe. This recipe is also great with Asian style white rice with egg (once the cooked rice is fried with all your ingredients, mix in a raw egg, keep stirring until done). Ingredients: 1 tbs sesame oil 1 cup peeled and chopped cattail shoots 1 chopped shallot 2 cloves garlic, chopped 3 cups cooked brown rice 1 tsp soy sauce 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper Directions: Heat the sesame oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add shallots sauté for 5 minutes. Add garlic and cattail and sauté for 2 minutes. Add the remaining ingredients and cook until the rice is hot. Serves 4 |
